How Results Are Processed

Urine specimens are processed by a professional laboratory. When additional confirmation or medical review is required, final reporting may take longer.

A Medical Review Officer may contact the donor when appropriate to determine whether there is a legitimate medical explanation for certain laboratory findings.

What should I bring to the collection site?

What happens if the initial screen is non-negative?
A non-negative screen may require confirmatory laboratory testing and, when appropriate, Medical Review Officer review before a final determination is reported.
Do all drug tests include marijuana/THC?
No. We offer panels that include marijuana/THC and panels that exclude it. Review the substances included in the selected test before ordering.
Is urine alcohol testing the same as a breath alcohol test?
No. Urine alcohol testing is a laboratory urine test and should not be interpreted as a breath alcohol concentration result.
